Having acquired a MASSIVE load of coloured yarn from my Nana, I
decided to try using up some of it on some cross stitch! it's been
lovely to have so many lovely colours to choose from. These are some
experiments that I designed and sewed myself, simply drawing them out
onto the fabric using a fabric pen, and for the more complicated chevron
one I used some squared paper to draw out my design.

Victorian Sewing and Gardening Screen prints
I've been busy creating some more screen prints using images from the Victorian picture book that I used for the Victorian Keys screen print and card I printed a few weeks ago.
As I have been watching the Chelsea Flower show whilst sewing this week, I thought about doing a gardening and a sewing print, so I collected lots of little images with these themes from the book, and arranged them, adding colour, to create these prints, I hope you like them! As always they're available from my Folksy and Etsy shops, whichever you prefer!

Ampersand and Victorian Keys Screen Prints
Last week I went to Marshfield Screen Print near Bath and used their lovely facilities to print my latest batch of prints. They're all available on both my Folksy and Etsy shops.
The Victorian keys were found in a whole book of Victorian images, I arranged them in a little collection.
For this "Ampersand Collection" screen print I picked
out ampersands from my favourite historical typefaces and arranged them
for an A3 design.

Making a Traditional Lampshade
Today I did a workshop in the lovely Makery
in Bath, learning how to make a traditional scallop-edged lampshade,
here are some pics of the process! I used some vintage Liberty Lawn
fabric which I got from the Flea market a couple of weeks ago, and some
pale mint bobble trim.

Sixties dress
I got this 1969 dress pattern ages ago from a flea market, but I had no idea where to start making it! So I did a two day dress making course at Millie Moon shop in Frome, and they gave me lots of help and here is the result! I now feel confident to tackle another dress by myself now, so hopefully lots more dresses to come!

Sewing Machine Table Refurb
Having had this lovely but rather
dark sewing machine table (which I inherited from my Nana) in my sitting
room for about a year, I decided it was time to take the plunge and
paint it a completely different colour! Unsurprisingly the colour was
green.
The
paint I used was Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Florence. I did 2 coats,
then sanded the edges to give the table a distressed look. Then I waxed
it using Annie Sloan soft wax, and then it was done! lovely. Now I must
figure out the vintage sewing machine and do some sewing! Unfortunately I
did manage to paint a bit of the curtains.

Mother's Day Spring hanging decorations
Lately I have been creating these pretty Mother's Day/Easter/Spring
gift hanging decorations. I chose some fabrics and made flowers from
then, then decorated the rest of the wreaths using coordinating ribbons,
buttons, lace, fabrics and ricrac.
Each decoration measures 20cm (8") in diameter and has a pretty coordinating bow and ribbon attached with which to hang it in your home! They are currently available from my Folksy shop here. If you have an idea of something similar that you would like please do get in touch with me.
